I replaced the battey in my daughter's ipod mini (1st gen) about one month ago. A couple of weeks later she informed me that the pause function no longer was working. When she came home again from college this weekend, I took it apart, thinking possibly some dirt got in previously. But, the clickwheel worked on all buttons but the one to pause and to shut off the unit. In the process of working with it, I must have shorted the main board, because now none of the buttons are working. The display works but that's it.

I assume I need a new (or used) main board and click wheel. Where would be the best place to find these for a very reasonable cost?

Thank you for your reply

Just try to buy a clickwheel first, my iPod 4G did this. I would do a WTB for a mini clickwheel here in the Marketplace-several members here have a ton of iPod parts.

If I were you I'd personally send it in somewhere, just so that they could diagnose what the specific problem was... and the only reason I say that is because you can simply decline any work and find out what you specifically need to buy for your iPod.

I can guarantee you're going to waste a lot more money playing the guessing game with these iPod components.
