I haven't bought an ipod yet, I'm in the researching stage. The iTrip feature is really important to me, but I've heard some negative reviews of it on other sites. What do you like/dislike about it?

Also, is iTunes as big of a pain as some say?

Thanks!

Who says?

Everybody I know who's on Windows dropped whatever other program they were using within minutes of having downloaded iTunes.

iTrip works well, as does iTunes. iTunes is sometimes a pain, but then again, so is all software.

Another vote for iTunes. It does what it's supposed to to, and better than earlier versions did too. I run it on Macs and PCs and it is basically identically great on both.

As imitchellg5 says, it's a pain now and then, but mostly because of the way it's thought out, not because it's faulty. It's sort of like learning how to use a slightly different operating system, say Linux, after using OS X. There are some quirks and some functions aren't where you expect to find them, but it all works.

My ONLY complaint is that I can't (as far as I know) configure how it works with an iPod until the iPod is plugged in. Which makes changing how it syncs problematic at times. Not a big deal, just an irritation.

One issue to consider with iTrip (or the other FM transmitters for iPod) is how crowded your local FM dial is.

In geographic locations where there are some empty frequencies, people get better results than in locations where every frequency is occupied with strong signals.

BTW: There are many user reviews for the product posted on the Apple on line store.
