My father in law bought my wife and I a $25 iTunes card for X-Mas. Went to iTunes store, went to redeem it, and it says that it is not valid. My wife watched him purchse the card, and it was scanned by the cashier.
What do we do now?

You'll need your receipt. If you don't have it, produce a credit card statement (online, if you can't wait).

ever figure this out? i had the same problem on a gift card from my lil brother, turned out that some of those letters and numbers look REALLY similar to each other. I think it was a B and an 8 or something. Try a bunch of combos.

keep those receipts! -until you redeem your iTunes card. You never know if your iPod will make it to the first year either (keep that receipt also).

I bought one for my sister from Target and it turned out that the cashier didn't activate it properly. My sister lives out of town, so it was kind of a pain to get it back and take it in to Target to get it replaced. This was especially true because the customer service girl we were talking to had lost her voice, making communication difficult. Once we had finally explained the situation, she had to call her supervisor over, who said that the card we had and the one on the receipt didn't match (essentially saying that we were trying to scam them). Since this was the first (and definitely the last) iTunes gift card I had bought from Target, I stuck to my guns and eventually got a replacement, but in the future I will buy all my iTunes GCs online. They even let you print out something from your computer if you want something physical to give.

Those cards with the virtually unreadable numbers are an utter waste of time. By the time you've scrapped off the black ink from hell, washed your hands twice with extra strength "Dirt out", borrowed your grandma's reading glasses to decipher the cave writing text - all you want to buy is a Ted Nugent album about killing deer or something. Give them a $20 bill and be done with the whole thing.
