I bought an 80 GB iPod this week specifically because it has more memory than my iBook G4, but now I have discovered I can't import music from my original 20 GB iPod once it has been deleted from iTunes.
Can anyone offer advice on manually managing my music -- or direct me to an existing discussion? I'm afraid I've wasted hours (if not days) ripping music I can't transfer back to my computer. Is this a common problem now that the capacity of the new iPods is so great?
The transfer direction has always been computer to iPod. Apple doesn't provide nor support the reverse. I've been told there is software that enables it but I've never had the need for it as I don't delete anything from iTunes.
It's a mistake to delete all your music from iTunes. You should have just hooked up the new iPod and transferred it to the new iPod via iTunes. You need to get a larger hard drive if you want to fill the 80gb iPod without having to jump through a lot of hoops.
ipoddisc also works, it mounts your whole ipods HD as a removeable drive without having to open itunes, you can view all folders and files and import anything, or use it mainly as an external hard drive that can play music, lol.
