hi
im just wondering how many people are experiencing the -48 unkown error with iTunes. This is a problem that has only arrison to me in the last few days.

My question is what is it and what are apple going to do about it. The apple discussions are full of threads about this error but i aint seen in no where else.

Paul, that's an interesting problem, but you've only talked around it, not ABOUT it.

One: if YOU don't tell us what was happening, what you were doing, and what happened afterward, then nobody will EVER figure out what "error -48" is.

Two: you posted this in the iPod forum, rather than the Applications forum, so I'm assuming it has something to do with your iPod as well as with iTunes. Care to tell us WHICH iPod you have?

Three: can you provide some links to "the apple discussions are full of threads about this error" so we can see what you're talking about?

certainly.
i have an ipod 80gb video. this is the only ipod that seems to be affected

the apple discussion regarding it is Apple - Support - Discussions - Error 48 - Solved after call to Apple ...
that gives a procedure that may temporarly fix the problem until apple fix it.

basically what the the -48 error is doing is not allowing music to be put onto the ipod. it doesnt say that it is full or anything, it just says it cannot do it.

iv done all of the 5 r's that apple reccomend but still nothing is working.

the problem is linked to itunes version 7.02 and ipod version 1.2.1.

Interesting problem-and quite a bummer. Note that there is a history of iTunes not liking some songs, even ones purchased from ITMS, and just not transferring them to the iPod; this sounds like it's something akin to that. But changing the bloody TIME ZONE to fix this? Preposterous! Apple needs to come up with a real fix (in the firmware) instead of a stupid workaround.
