Im interested in buying a ipod-to-FM transmitter for my car, but every transmitter i've come across has mixed reviews. I'll usually see four or five star reviews, in addition to one star reviews for the same product.

I came across the airplay, and since it is not listed on the apple store, I figured I ask how it performed. I've read a couple of reviews in these forums, but its not enough to justify a purchase.

Your responses are appreciated.

I think one of the reasons for the mixed reviews on these products has to do with where the user is located and how full the local FM frequencies are. In places with very crowded FM dials, it is hard to find a truly empty frequency. In more remote locations, they work better.

I used mine in Phoenix, San Diego, LA, Las Vegas, San Jose, and San Francisco and it worked just fine. Worked better than my iTrip that i ended up giving away. Occasionally, as with any fm transmitter, you'd have to find a better station to use if in the larger cities, but that was rare.

Gotta say though, I now LOVE my cheap alpine deck with iPod inputs and menu functionality. I could never go back to FM transmitters.
