I've been getting a -1418 error from my 1st gen iPod Nano. Does anyone know a way to fix this error? I've been to 1418hell.com, but they don't have any solid solutions. When I plug the iPod into my iBook, i get an 'IPOD' in the iTunes sidebar, but nothing mounts on my desktop as it usually did. Restoring doesn't work, again I get the 1418 error.

If I can't get the iPod to restore, is there any way I can wipe it clean, whether it be with disk utility, or with a PC? When I plug it into a PC, it mounts as an H: drive, but I can't format it or open it as an external device. If I can get it workign again, i'll put iPodlinux on it just as long as it's functional. It's only a year old. Any suggestions would be excellent .

Thanks!
