I just bought the 30G iPod and tried to download music and my PC crashes with a fatal error. I followed the directions that came with it (loaded iTunes, etc.) I also diasabled all but the 2 necessary iPod drivers and it still crashes. One time when i plugged it in I at least got a message that it needed to be formatted for a PC. everytime I plug it in now, the ipod says do not disconnect and the PC drive spins a bit then the fatal error occurs. I have windows XP.

Any suggestions before I return this thing?

Sounds like you have a Mac formatted iPod that you are trying to use on your PC.

Thanks for the reply. I figured out the problem. The USB 2.0 upgrade i installed does not like the ipod hardware. It works fine with my old usb connection.
