I want to make sure I don't ruin it.

Also, I alreaday have a 30g video ipod--how do I use two ipods on a single Itunes account? Is that a problem?

No, its not a problem. I (and many others) have 2+ (*cough 23 cough*) iPods.

Neither nano nor shuffle stands a particularly good chance of being ruined by running (unless you drop it repeatedly without a case, or step on it, in which case, they stand equal chance of ruination). The shuffle's cheaper and smaller, while the nano has more storage space, and a screen. Which features are more important to you?

Oh--so more than one ipod using itunes isn't a problem? We are about to become a 3-ipod household (but not ****23****!!! *gasp*!), and my husband would like to be able to download some of my stuff onto his ipod.

I guess a screen would be nice. Plus I found a refurb nano for $89--that's a good deal, no?

Go for the nano. That way you can have multiple playlists and also have the Nike+ capability if you want to buy that down the line. The shuffle is neat I had it but the clip doesnt hold the greatest. I was always checking to make sure it wasnt falling off or not getting covered in sweat. I had the 2G shuffle and returned it after a weeks use. I didnt feel that it had any advantages over the nano for running and I missed the screen and ability to have more then one playlist.

The apple.com store often offers refurbs that will also have a warrenty. So my advice to you is to buy a nano and a good case.

well it's a good thing no new ipods were introduced this week because we all know someone who would have a lot more than 23 of them by now.

If you don't already have a case, I've used a variety of different ones, and my two favs are the iSkin Duo or the Agent 18 Shield, if you can find it.

Whoa! That many why? Use them as DVD substitutes for storage or something?

I find one iPod Video to be sufficient, though i don't run, and i really like the new Nanos. It was only timing and an eBay deal gone wrong that prevented me from making the mistake of getting a Mini instead, but i always liked the colored 1-piece aluminum tube design.

If i were a runner instead of a couch potato, i'd get a Nano and a nice little arm band.

Nano + good Armband + Nike+ = a runner's dream. It keeps me motivated and helps track my running without any extra work on my part.
