OK-I pressed the keypad and had this weird diagnostics thing come up. I tried to exit, and did, and now the text is in chinese! How do I change the font, and is this normal?

I've bought two refurb iPod Videos from the Apple store and both have been flawless. If I were in that situation, I would probably try a restore with iTunes and see what happens.

Sure it's an actual iPod Nano or is it an "iPod Nano"?

try restarting. hold MENU + SELECT until it reboots (5 seconds approx). if that doesnt work, you could always try to get to the language settings. the menu items are in the same place, just different text. so maybe use your memory or look at an english ipod and follow the same path

What do you mean, "ipod nano"? I ordered it from apple's website, came with all the documentation. I know it's not a fake.

I will try these things tonight. Thanks for trying to help. I thought that seemed really strange.

Check out this thread and follow the step by step instructions listed in it, it sounds very similar to your problem and appears to have done the trick for a guy who's iPod got stuck in Spanish.

You can find the thread by doing a search for the thread under its name (just cut & paste the name into the search box): "el iPod es in espanol,. ?que passa aqui?"

This should fix it right up! Good luck!

In case you can't find that thread via a search here is the important part of that thread that you need...

From the manual:
-----------
1. Push Menu repeatedly until the main menu appears.

2. Select the fourth menu item (Settings).

3. Select the last menu item (Reset All Settings).

4. Select the second menu item (Reset) and select a language.
------------
It then goes on to say that this will reset all of your other custom menu settings.

Hope that solves it for you.

If that doesn't work, plug it into your computer, launch iTunes, and click the 'Restore' button (iTunes 7). When complete, and the iPod is unplugged, you will be asked to select the language.

Will doing this mess up my Itunes stuff? I already have tons of music on it for my Ipod video.

I'll try these things tonight. Thanks. I hope I don't have to bug you guys again!

Won't mess iTunes or the other iPod up at all. It'll just restore the iPod in question to factory settings.

OK. I fixed the language. But I can't get the Ipod to be recognized by Itunes. It works with my Ipod video. Thoughts?
