My girlfriend and I have an iPod and we transfer music to our iPods from our respective computers. When she brings hers over to my house and I want to transfer a video to her iPod it asks me if i want to completely erase hers and transfer my ;library' to her iPod, thus reformatting everything.

Does iTunes and the iPod work 1:1? One computer per iPod? I am able add some music to her iPod from my computer but videos it doesn't seem like I can.

Anyway around this? I just want to add music to hers. Does that mean I have to send her the music to her computer and have her transfer it herself?

That's pretty much how it works. Using iTunes, you can't "copy" music, you can only sync. There are quite a few third party apps that will let you do what you'd like to do.

Thanks for the answer. But why can I transfer music most of the time? Only once did it ask me to reformat her iPod.

1:1 is understandable.

If you have an iPod set to sync with one computer, you can't use iTunes to transfer music from another computer to that iPod (or vice versa). If the iPod is set to manually update (where you just drag songs and videos over to it manually) then you should be able to transfer songs without reformatting.

I can't explain why it isn't doing it this way consistently for you, unless she has changed the settings somehow.
