Hi everyone. I'm a total newbie to the world of iPods, and I seem to be having trouble setting up my first one. I got an iPod Nano as part of a deal with my MacBook. I didn't have time to set it up at first, so it basically sat around in the box for 4 months while I used the Macbook. Now I'm trying to set it up and that little folder icon with exclamation point keeps popping up when I try to turn it on.

I followed all the instructions provided. I installed the software from the CD, plugged my nano into the 2.0 USB port, and let it charge for about six hours before I tried loading music on it. Itunes has no trouble recognizing the ipod, and easily let me load music onto it. However, that problem from above keeps coming up when I try to turn it on independently of the computer. Occasionally the low battery sign pops up when I turn it on, but I can't figure out how that can be true if I charged it for so long? Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

Sounds like it could be defective. You should probably try restoring it to the factory settings using iTunes and see if that does anything. If not, you may have to send it in for service, since it's probably been too long for you to just exchange it.

Okay, I'll give those a try. Thanks for your help (and sorry for taking so long to reply).
