iPod not Connecting

so my iPod plays fine, and it even detects when it is plugged in (screen lights up). However my computer doesn't see it, either in disk utility or itunes. I reset the iPod, tried a different port, shut iTunes off. Nothing. Its simply preposterous.

Any ideas?
