I think that the absence of a black shuffle is the popularity of Apples black products. They all are the high-end deal because of my theory that Apple sold MANY black 1 gen nanos and black iPod videos (I take the high price of the black products as evidence of this). Apple didn’t want to have to increase the price of the shuffles (being the low-end model) so they went with another color, orange (the only sane reason to increase the price would be to increase the storage and would have cost Apple a lot of money in the process).

is that a good explanation?
Signature depreciated.

That's a great question. I don't think Apple would make a black shuffle unless it was 2Gb like you said. Black is now their special color.

What I really wanna see is the black iMac, now that would be sick, but I guess we'll just have to go to colorware for our colored iMacs and macbooks

There was no white shuffle..see, I think they were trying to go along the lines of the iPod nano colored lines..Sure there is an orange model but I doubt they'd bother doing that..I wish they made a purpple one haha...

A black 2GB Shuffle...
That would just be awesome.
Let's hope they think so too at Apple!
I have the grey 1GB now, but I would switch to a black one in a minute

Ahem, there was a white iPod Shuffle. It was the 1st generation iPod Shuffle. I think it would be more logical if they made the Macbook's out of the same material with the same colors as the iPod nanos.

I think it's Apple's latest trend of making black products. At first there were no black macbooks either, at first all ipods were white. Then all of the sudden they made a black one, and the nanos followed... 2 of the 3 ipod-products are black, only 1 of the 3 mac-products is black... I still think (and hope) the black shuffle is following.

To me, there would have to be something special about the black edition of a shuffle. Different finish? I think if it was just normal black abs plastic - then big deal.

I do agree that it would have to be 2GB and up - that way it would fit into the current "black" specification of products: top tier, high end model.
