I know the resemblance between the 2 phones is pretty close, but besides looks does the Prada really function the same way as the iPhone? I'm not too familier with the Prada, but I do know that it was realeased a few months earlier than the iPhone, what are the odds that Apple copied LG?

I don't know who copied who, but at this point I don't care anymore. I don't care who copies the iPhone, or if Apple copied some other company. The cell phone market is so over saturated that there is little (if any) room for real innovation. The true source of anything new and innovative will come from the interface and how the user interacts with the device. And since no one has used the iPhone, or the Prada, no one knows who really copied who on that front. They look identical on the outside, but I have little doubt that they are very different on the inside. Who's is better? No one will know for at least another 4 months.

But I guess if you really want to get down to the nitty-gritty on who copied who, then have a look at the patents. Whoever patented stuff first wins. Thats the only real way to measure it, since anyone can say "hey, we had that idea on the drawing board years ago.. you stole it from us."

If Apple did copy LG, I really have to give them props for it. To bring a phone and all it's software to manufacturing that quickly implies a god like ability to imitate.

The the hardware style certainly copied the "look and feel", but the software will be totally different.

Apple couldn't have copied LG. The Prada was shown a few months ago. The iPhone's development started two and a half years ago. When things are unveiled so near each other, to say one copied another is pure stupidity.

Please. LG clearly copied Apple. There's absolutely no way Apple had time to copy LG.

Sarcasm aside, I think we're simply reaching a point where technology is beginning to be able to affordably deliver rich user experiences and companies are starting to take advantage of it.

Kind of interesting, but as others have said, there's no way Apple copied LG.

There just isn't any way either of them copied one another... there just wasn't enough time unless they had spies or something... and Apple is like Fort Knox... and I'm guessing LG is about the same way.

They could do a few last minute things to change the look/feel to be similar, but not the hardware.

Purely anecdotally, innovation often happens independently but simultaneously. A very strange, wonderful phenomenon. All about when the time is right, I guess.

Bash does have a point, since the iPhone was released theres been like 4 other "touch screen" smart phones released. And I do agree with the point that apple couldn't have copied the LG Prada in a few months, like Jobs said, they've been working on it for 2.5 years. Does anyone else wonder why the iPhone looks so different from the other Apple products? Maybe its a hint at whats to come with the new Mac lineup.
