What are the odds that Apple will come out with another Trim level of iPhone, perhaps a flip or slider phone? I think it could be a possibility, I mean not everyone wants to spend $500 for a phone and not everyone wants a "smart phone", so what about them? Perhaps they'll have another Rockr type phone that won't be a flop.

The "candybar" phone is the cheapest and most practical design, because there are no moving pieces. I don't expect Apple to design any other type of phone.

It'd be hard to put a 3.5" touchscreen in a flip phone. Any flip iphones can't rely so much on giant touchscreens.

Without the big screen, what's the point.

I've just accepted that I'm not buying an iPhone. There are too many cons in my book and the price is the first big one. I wouldn't buy a blackberry and the iPhone is more appealing, but I still don't need/want many of the features. I'm happy for those that end up buying one, but I'm not going to be one of them.

I HATE open faced phones. I would rather have a flip but the features and compatibility the iPhone offers is tough to beat.

If they do make a lower cost phone, I doubt it'll be a flip phone. I have never ONCE seen a flip phone that had aesthetically pleasent design (IMO, of course), 'cept *maybe* the RAZR.

In any case, I hate to come off as a jerk to a newcomer here, but... are you sure you're not serving us spam in disguise? Granted, your question is valid, but when your username is "Buy Me an iPhone," as is your banner and your site, and your profile shows no activity other than your first post.... I can't help but raise an eyebrow. Honestly, I'd rather donate to the Red Cross of America.

Then Donate to the Red Cross of America, I dont know how excited they'll be about 75 cents though. How am I spamming you? I'm a contributor here just like everyone else, and I post a link for my website like half the people here.

I do prefer flip phones, since you don't need to worry about scratching the screen. I don't think I will be able to use the iPhone without, at the very least, some kind of protective covering. But I agree that you can't fit the iPhone's functionality into a flip phone form factor, so it's unlikely that they'll be coming out with one, at least for the foreseeable future.
