I have a double album (80 Mb) on my 2nd gen shuffle as a single file so that it will play intact even in shuffle mode. It plays straight through on my Itunes
library but not on the shuffle. Sometimes it plays 3 tracks, sometimes 4 or5, then it moves on to the next file. Any ideas?

My guess (and it is only a guess) is that it's too big for the shuffle's memory. You might try re-encoding it to a lower bitrate so you can make a smaller file. Aside from that, I don't know.

shuffles can still play albums straight through. just turn it off of shuffle mode and make the album individual songs again. my shuffle works just fine like that.

That is of course true. I assumed he was talking about wanting it to play without gaps, which the shuffle can't do (if I recall correctly).

Thanks for the responses. I know how to import at a lower bit rate but I don't know how to
convert an existing file to a lower rate. I think that would be worth a try because the file is
probably just too big. Another question: I've noticed that in going from shuffle setting back
to straight play the order of songs is reversed. Albums play from last song to first. Any way
to prevent this?

You'll need to go into your iTunes "import" settings and change the bit rate. Then select the song in iTunes and select "Advanced" -> "Convert Selection to MP3" (or AAC if that's what you have selected). I'm not sure about the other issue as I haven't noticed that. Do you have your shuffle set to sync with a certain playlist? Is that playlist in reverse order by any chance?
