Every time my iPod syncs with iTunes, the same 971 songs are transfered to it. Which is weird because I have a library nearly 4,000.

I've already restored the iPod several times. Even formatted it in Disk Utility once.

But no matter what I do, it insists on transfering the same 971 songs over and over and over.

What could possibly be causing this?

Running iTunes 7.1.1, BTW.

If you're using autosync, try manual. If you're using manual...anyone else have an idea?

Are the other songs on an external harddrive? If so, and youve plugged it in, how about trying by plugging it into another socket as they all have different drive names so it wont be able to find the music if its on a diff drive.

Doesn't make a difference one way or another.

Negative. Everything is in my iTunes folder on my primary hard drive.

I've also just tried using a PCI FireWire card to see if the problem is with my onboard FireWire controller. It's not.

I have a similar problem with my 1st Gen Nano. The songs ARE on my iPod because you can see them when looking at the contents of the iPod in iTunes but the only way you can get to them on the iPod is through the songs menu, they won't show up in Artists.

Lateralus -- You could try making a new user with a fresh iTunes library that only has a few songs in it. See what happens when you try to sync with that library.
