Now that the Apple TV is being shipped has anyone tried to stream video from a Hard Drive connected via USB to the Airport Extreme Base Station? I have a laptop I can connect to but I have limited hard drive space and would love if I can store my media on the base station hard drive and stream from it.

"If it's on iTunes, it's on AppleTV." Remember it.
It's really that simple. If your networked files are in your iTunes library, you're good.

How do you point iTunes to your movie collection without it bringing it into your iTunes folder? Can you use aliases? I've been importing them into iTunes so that I can add the movie posters or DVD covers.

Preferences -> Advanced -> uncheck "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library"

I have multiple drives on an extreme base station. I also want to ask if I can put aliases on the main drive so that itunes can access them . . .

But when I do this, music too will be unorganized right? I want my music to stay nice and neat but movies to remain on another volume.

You can do this if you want the iTunes library somewhere else. Move the folder where you want it to be... make an alias of the iTunes library and move it to where the original iTunes library is.
