Hi, all.

I recently reformatted and reinstalled Windows on my home computer. I've got all of my songs back into iTunes, but somewhere along the line, because I didn't RTFM, I lost all of my playlists and ratings.

HOWEVER, my iPod was last synced before the reinstall. So, it has all of my rated songs and playlists on it. What I'm wondering is, when I plug the iPod into the computer, what's going to happen? Will it sync with iTunes and update all of the songs on my computer with my old/existing ratings? Or will it ask me to reformat the iPod or something because the computer has been reinstalled since I last synced it?

The latter. iTunes syncs to the iPod. Not from it.

Well, yeah, but if I rate something when I'm on the go with my iPod then that rating gets transferred back to iTunes the next time I sync them up. At least that's how it's always worked for me in the past. I just wasn't sure if the reformat/reinstall of the machine was going to effect that.

I'm not asking if it will sync the songs on the iPod. The songs on the iPod are already on the computer. I'm asking if it will sync the ratings.

Sorry if I wasn't clear.

Yes, I believe it would.
