So I bought one of those compact iPod USB adapters from eBay - the ones that retail for $30. Mine was only $1.76+$6.99 shipping, so it was a really good deal. This guy is selling a ton of these with the bidding starting at $0.99. It arrived today, and it looks like a genuine Apple part.

So here's the question - at least one of y'all has got one of these adapters, so what I want to know is...did I get a copy part from Hong Kong, or is this really from Apple? Plus, if it is a fake, I'd be interested to know the differences between this one and the Apple one...

If that's a copy, it's a darn good one. Packaging and everything looks genuine. My model A1102 has the printing in slightly different places, but the text looks right, and I didn't see any obvious typos.

I checked my wife's 2G Nano AC adapter, and it looks exactly like the one you got. I think it's genuine. In fact I just bid on one of those on eBay.

The one thing I wasn't sure about was the barcode sticker on the end of the box - it looked a little different from what I remember pn other iPod accessory boxes...

I may end up getting another one. So far it's charged my 60GB Photo and my 2G orange Shuffle...all signs point to being genuine.

It doesn't appear that Apple lets you register a component like a power adapter on their website...

If it works, who cares? If it is fake, that looks like a lot of work and money spent for not alot of profit.

I got the one I ordered above the other day. Its packaging is identical to that of the unit I bought at the Apple Store for my wife's 2G Nano. The item itself is apparently 100% genuine.

Right now MP3directuk seems to be out of these, but there are others selling this same unit for very low prices.

When you ordered the item off of ebay, was it shipped from somewhere in the US? I just recently ordered what I thought was a motorola bluetooth earpiece off of ebay and failed to notice that it was coming from Tokyo and after research realized it was a counterfeit. It still works ok, but I'm sure the real thing is better in quality.

If the adaptor that you bought works fine then I wouldn't worry about it. If it breaks then your only out $8.76

My adapter came from Boston. They made it very plain that it would be mailed from Boston. (Since they're technically in the UK, I think they wanted to relieve US customers' minds about shipping time. )

Ordered one from the same guy on EBay. It's legit. Great price if you are looking for a USB iPod charger (which I was).
