What makes this new information at least partially plausible is that the touch-screen technology that the iPhone and future iPod will employ has already been perfected and finalized. Think Secret stresses, however, that this information has yet to be confirmed by other sources at this time.

That being said, what do you think? plausible? Obviously we'll find out tomorrow, but what do you guys think?
I don't think it'll happen. Apple may have gotten into the habit of pre-announcing products lately, but I don't think it's a trend that will continue. Also, I think a 6G iPod launch would detract a ton of "magic" away from the launch of the iPhone.
And of course, iPod sales would plummet.

My guess is that apple will bask in the light of the iPhone for a few months, and then release the 6th gen iPod in October or early November for prime holiday shopping.

There is no way, I repeat NO WAY, Apple will release a touch screen 6G iPod at or near the release of the iPhone. Period.

Nope. What possible reason would there be TO do it? All it would do is cannibalize sales from the iPhone. The only news here is that ThinkSecret needed to generate some traffic.

Yeah, it just doesn't seem to make sense. The only reason Apple pre-announced the iPhone was that they knew that they couldn't keep it under wraps for any longer for a variety of reasons, but they've never had that problem with new iPod models. And the iPhone has to remain "special" for a while (at least until it actually ships...)
