Is there any speaker system that I can use to charge and listen to music from my ipod? I do not want to get one device to charge the player while another device just to listen to the music from the player. Any advise? I have came across one from creative at Creative TravelSound i - High fidelity docking, charging travel speakers for iPod just wondering if it works well?

I think most speaker systems that have AC adapters (as opposed to the ones that operate only on batteries) will charge the iPod.

I usually stay away from Bose, but we have one of the Bose SoundDocks and it sounds fantastic.

I have the iLuv i177 for my bedroom. It's an alarm clock/radio/iPod deal for about $90. The sound quality is actually very impressive for the size, and I LOVE the alarm clock feature. It's easy to use and has more iPod control buttons on the top than the iHome H5. I've heard the Bose sounddock and wasn't particularly impressed, especially because of the price. I personally think the iLuv combines fuctionality and good sound quality with a nice price point (plus I got it for Christmas last year, so I didn't have to pay for it )

If you need travel functionality, the Creative thing might be the way to go - the only real way to find out is to go to a place like Best Buy that has a lot of stuff on display, and check it out for yourself. Also try epinions.com for reviews of different products.

iHome and iLuv both make travel iPod speaker/charger systems:

iHome's portable stuff

iLuv's portable boombox

JLC also has some neat looking stuff. I'm pretty sure Fry's also tends to put their iPod speaker systems on display, if you need a way to try out the different options. Target sells a number of options, too.
For all the trash I talk, I sure own a lot of Macs...
