It would be a nice bone Apple could throw to us iPod owners. Maybe a firmware update with an optional iphone-ish interface?

Apple's not in business to throw anyone any bones. They will sell you a whole new steak, however. Probably just in time for Christmas.

How would that even work? With a screen that's not a touch screen and that's half the size and a different resolution, the iPhone interface wouldn't work at all on the older iPods.
