Ok, we all know how well Apple always manages to package their products, so that even opening them is fun. I've been wondering how the iPhone is going to be packaged, and what extras are included in the box.
I am guessing that it will be like the old iPod boxes, the cubes that included a charger, and a dock, free of extra charge. Over the past few years, Apple has phased these things out of the iPod package and now you just get an iPod and a cable (not even the iTunes CD anymore).
I think the iPhone will need a charger so that's a given, but I wonder whether Apple is including a dock or just the standard iPod connector. A dock for the phone would be awesome...
I was just wondering about this and wanted to hear anyone else's ideas on what the packaging will be like and what's included.

I'm assuming they'll include a dock with the phone. I think the packaging will be pretty minimal, but of course very well done. I heard it comes with a cloth to wipe the screen off with (rumor). I hope it comes with a charger for the car. Maybe we'll get lucky and get a sticker or 2. I love them stickers (seriously).

I doubt that there will be a charger included, since they assume that the iPhone (like the iPod) will always be used in conjunction with a computer, and it can charge using the sync cable. I'm also 99% sure that the dock won't be included, but will be an optional accessory. My guess is that it will be a very small package like the current iPod.

That was my first thought too; however, while I don't think they'll include a dock, it is 100% necessary to include a portable charger. Every single phone comes with a charger...if you go on a trip longer than a day, you should not be required to bring your computer with you to give your iPhone juice.
I could be wrong, but I think cell phone = charger necessary.

I hope you're right (although I personally have several iPod chargers and a car charger, so I'll be OK in any case).

It's lame if the dock isn't included, especially after being included in their recent Gallery pictures without the legalese "Optional accessories shown" disclaimer at the bottom.
One accessory I would buy is a charger that I can just plug in. I don't sleep next to my computer at night and my mobile phone is my ONLY phone... So it's on the nightstand every evening.

You might be right about that. I've just come to expect that unless companies specifically mention that something is included, it won't be. BTW I imagine that the iPhone will also fit into several exiting iPod docks as well.

I think the packaging will be similar to the 5g video iPod.
The iPhone dock has a cut out towards the bottom so you can still use the home button while it is in a dock. I'm not sure it if will work nicely in a regular iPod dock.
