Pretty cute video. He makes the EDGE network sound worse than anything in the world. I wonder how bad it will actually be? And it sounds like him and Mossberg actually find the keyboard pretty good after getting used to it. Which I think was the main question for a ton of people.

I am not sure what T-Mobile's EDGE versus AT&T's speed is, but I use the internet on my BlackBerry all the time via T-Mobile's EDGE and I find it a little slow but more than useable. My parking garage is a few minutes walk from my office so I normally catch up on latest posts here and read the news on my cellphone. I've used my phone's browser to buy movie tickets and various things like that.

I've even tethered my BlackBerry to my PowerBook (via bluetooth), used it as a modem, and gotten ~20kps downloads. I've had to do that a few times when I was on a roadtrip and someone emailed me documents I had to work on for them.

3G is undoubtedly faster but, in my opinion, for random web browsing and stuff like that I think EDGE is okay. Faster is always better yes, but EDGE is not unusable. Far from it.

Did anyone notice that David Pogue played the Operator Please video on YouTube.

Everyone seems to be saying the same thing. Screen/UI and hardware form factor are great, keyboard and wireless speed are the downsides.

Actually, Walt had no problem with the keyboard. Pogue seemed to think it was a wash.
