If you check Apples iPhone availability page it looks like all Apple Stores still have iPhones in stock. It says it is updated nightly so hopefully it is accurate. If ordered online delivery is quoted as 2-4 weeks.

I heard that Apple stores got hundred(s) while AT&T stores got 20-60.

All three Apple Stores in Michigan have them as of now. Too bad I'm not getting one.

The inventory has been updated and now there are Apple stores showing no stock. Many still have them, but this is the first time I've checked and it has shown no stock at some stores (although all the ones in VA still have them).

If you go to try and check stock between 9:00 am and 9:00 pm you now get this message on Apple's site:

Shipment status is unavailable from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Please check back after 9:00 p.m. for tomorrow’s status. After your local store closes, we determine iPhone availability for the following day.
