What would be the Handbrake settings to optimize a video for the iPhone?

I've never done any iPod video or iPhone, obviously

Thanks!

Whoa. I just ran the videos made with Handbrake. They work on the Mac but the audio's SERIOULY botched when played on the iPhone.

EDIT: The audio seems to be playing at 2x speed. I have no idea why.

Click on "Presets" and select HB-iPod.

Click "Picture settings" and change the video to be 480.

I have a heavily compressed X-Men 3 for my iPod, matched also to the iPod screen resolution. Doesn't play correctly on my iPhone. I'll have to try to re-encode.
I'd bet that anything encoded for the AppleTV should work fine on the iPhone.

I'd agree with this, an iPhone, technically, is closer to an Apple TV than a 5G iPod (.ie its post Intel, the 5G is pre Intel), so try the Apple TV setting with the resolution changed to 480x320. If its widescreen, try it so that the height is 320 and the width is over 480, the iPhone is able to switch between full screen and widescreen with black bars by tapping the screen (its in the 20 minute iPhone tour video when they show it playing Cars).

Look after my manor, or I will bum you, literally, to death.

I'm trying this. How do I get it into iTunes? Just Import it? I've never had a video iPod so no need to do this.

I ripped the dvd using the above settings and transfered it into iTunes where it plays fine. I told it to sync the movie to my iPhone, but it doesn't do it. A short Pixar film syncs fine (Boundin'). Didn't give an error, but I think I may have turned that dialog box off last night when something else couldn't sync (any way to turn it back on?).
