OK, the community needs a smart developer to step up to the plate and create an app that will allow us to sync our iCal to our phone wirelessly. Perhaps we can use google calendars as a go-between that allows multidirectional sync between computer iCal, phone iCal and google calendars.

This would make my $650 smartphone even smarter....

While I don't have a need for this, I would love to see it created. I've heard a lot of people that want this feature.

Personally I can't wait to see what people come up with. Its going to be really exciting to see what all these great developers create for the iPhone.

After a little searching, I guess the lingo is OTA syncing. I don't know how technically challenging this kind of thing is. But, I can't see why Apple, Google or both couldn't leverage .mac technology to make this happen on a device that has both wifi and cellular capabilities?

Pundits- what do you think?

There is NO technological reason this could not be implemented via .mac. Absolutely none. Just a matter of whether Apple chooses to implement and offer.

At the moment, its technically not possible to be done by anyone except Apple because only Apple has an iPhone SDK. Well Google does too

So unfortunately while I know we would love to write this (we do a lot of mobile apps and are Mac/and now iPhone users) there is no way to access the Calendar info on the iPhone via Web 2.0 apps. At least not yet
