Is there no way to change voicemail alert tones or text message alert tones on the iPhone? I only see that you can change the ringtone.

At this point in time you can only change ringtones, not other alert sounds. Apple could add the ability to change the alert sounds in a future update though.

I'm sure it wasn't my imagination, but I recall customizing the sounds under the Settings>Sounds menu, but now that I re-examine it, it's just on/off switches. I swear I saw it someplace.. Now I'm going to spend hours looking for it!
