How would you know one way or the other? Anyway, 2% is still quite a few people.

This is true. But I guess just trying to contact AT&T and Apple and their "extremely high volume" of calls was what through me off... that and this forum. I just blew it out of proportion in my mind.

2% is not a lot, all things considered.
This means that 98% of people who bought an iPhone had no problems activating.
I think that is very good considering the influx of people trying to activate 1) at the same time and 2) with different account needs, etc.

Exactly!
It's like when the "news" idiots quote (already unscientific) polls and spout crap like "78 percent of adults surveyed said they have no plans to buy Apple's iPhone." Hmm. Seems to me then that the other 22% are a pretty big story... But what do I know!?

Exactly. It's been estimated that 500,000 iPhones were sold this past weekend. 2% of that equals 10,000 people. It's unfortunate that I was one of them.

The point I was trying to make was that while 2% is actually a very low number, it's still more than enough to account for the number of people we're reading about having problems online. 10,000 early adopter Mac nerds make a lot of noise when their new toys don't work.
