I've charged the iPhone for 2 straight nights (all night long) and when i go into Settings/Usage it's "blank" for the last time the device was Fully Charged. I've now confirmed with another friend that the USAGE screen is not showing anything for him too (just the top of the screen). Other information is available.

When it is fully charged (and still plugged in), you will see a tiny electrical plug icon in the batter icon in the corner of the screen while using the iPhone, and on the lock screen it will look similar while plugged in.
When it is charging, it will show a lightning bolt in that battery icon.
