Expected, but good news nonetheless. How much does AT&T charge for using the phone overseas, by the way?

The $6/month gives you lower rates when travelling overseas. Notice that I said "lower rates" because that means you're still paying huge per-minute rates.

France without the $6/month is $1.29/minute, with the plan you pay $1/minute.

You'd better have figured out how to call home using a calling card, or else you're going to be staggered by your phone bill when you get home.

International data roaming is 1.95 cents per kB in most countries. Details can be found here. AT&T International | AT&T wireless services

Hm, I would pass on the World Traveler $6 per mo. charge, but probably will take the WoldConnect, since I call the UK, etc. a lot.

If you're calling land lines in Europe, Skype is the best way to go since it's about 2 cents/minute. Easily done from a laptop w/wifi.

If you're traveling overseas, you're better off taking an old unlocked GSM phone, since you'll be able to buy local SIM prepaid cards. Can't do that with the iphone...
