I currently use a Treo 680 as my all in one device, for both my phone, and applications (mostly medical programs). On the Treo when you need to access something off the internet it takes several seconds each time to connect and sign on. Does the iphone likewise do this, or is it a more seamless or constant connection? Thanks for the information, I hadn't seen any mention of this.

I wouldn't say there is a lag like you describe. It more or less feels like a constant connection. Of course, if you're using EDGE it does take a while longer for the page to start displaying than on wifi.

No signing on or lag on wi-fi from any network I've used.

EDGE, at least in my experience, is painful to use... Even with full bars. Using it to check movie times is one thing. I'd find it unacceptable for anything as important as "medical programs." Of course, YMMV.
