i've got this working-prefectly 80g iBook G3 running OSX 10.4.10 and iTunes 7.3.1, all ready for my iPhone but i don't have USB 2.0. grrrrr. my thought: can i plug in my (perhaps) iPhone into a (yet to be purchased) firewire/usb 2.0 hub and plug the hub into my firewire port? will this work? if not, do you have any ideas?

i went to the Apple store today and they plugged in an iPhone into my USB 1.0 port and iTunes didn't see it. thoughts? i'm jonseing for an iPhone.

cheers,

et

A combo hub won't solve your problem, unless you can get some kind of USB to firewire convertor.

Aye, unfortunately I don't think you're going to have any luck with that hub. The combo hubs require respective connections on the Mac to work. It doesn't work as a Firewire-to-USB converter and they certainly aren't common.

There is no solution for Macs stuck with USB 1.0 (those that can't add an expansion card of some kind). The only thing you can do is get a new computer or put up with very slow transfers.

And there are no Firewire to USB converters. They don't exist.

It should be noted that it will work with USB 1.1 but transfers will be painfully slow, especially that first one when you initially sync all your music/movies etc over. After that, not so painfull as you will only be syncing a song or two over.
Besides the speed, it will still charge and behave normally tho. But man, that first sync.. ouch. Plug it in, go to work, come home, it might be done lol. 8GB over USB 1.1,,, my head hurts.

Is that based on first-hand experience?
