so yeah anyone hack this thing to block ads yet? the simple CSS sheet ad blocking would at least work somehow.. I wish there was access to the file system somehow and maybe someone could figure it out?

I like this one: Ad Blocking for Mozilla, Netscape 7, and Safari

But really it would save a lot of time loading pages over EDGE

I really hope this is either added as an option by Apple or some other 3rd party figures out a way to do it. The biggest thing I find I'm waiting for when I wait for a page to finish loading is the stupid ads. MacNN forums are one of the worst offenders. Every page hangs at the end for about 10 seconds. No reason for it other than the ads.

Screw you banner ads!

Has anyone played with the filesystem yet?

THere's a lot of instructions for messing with the hosts file on a mac os x system, surely it should be pretty similar on the iphone?

Want to share? There is an /etc/hosts file, and I am in the process of configuring mine to block ads. But any servers you have in your list would be helpful.

Here's a link someone directed me to: Mike's ad blocking hosts file. Privacy. Anti-Spyware.

this is his hosts file: http://everythingisnt.com/hosts

I don't mean to use you as a guinea pig or anything but...please share your instructions/results

So I tried it, and it doens't seem to do anything. I need to play with it more, but it looks as if iPhone ignores this file. When I get home, i'll try setting google.com to point to 127.0.0.1 and see what happens.
