Hello! I have some random questions about my iPhone. If anyone has answers, I'd be eternally grateful.
1: When I plug my iPhone into itunes, it shows memory capacity, and what part of the memory is taken up by Audio, Photos, and Other. What exactly constitutes Other? I'm sure some part of it is internet cache, but that can't be all of it.
2: Occasionally my iPhone seems a bit buggy. Occasionally in the middle of a song, if I happen to be looking at the weather or email at the same time, the song stops and I'm taken back to the desktop screen. Also, on occasion, the little button on my earphones stops working. It'll fail to stop a song or skip a song, but if I unplug them and then plug 'em back in, it'll work again. Sometimes if I press the button and stop a song, and then start again, it'll start playing my entire catalogue randomly instead of going back to the song I was listening to before. Anyone else have that problem?
3: Does anyone know at what point all youtube videos will become available to iphone users?
4: I've read that there's going to be an update to iTunes where you'll select a song and a snippet of that song for ringtones, and you'll be charged for it. Anyone have a link to where I can get some information about this service, and is anyone contacting apple about the retardedness of charging to snip songs for ringtones if you've already paid to download the song?
5: I also heard that some consumer lawyer or coalition or whatever wants to stop Apple from charging for the extensive fees for battery replacement because iPhone users won't have a choice in paying for it if they have a defective battery after a year or so. Anyone have a link to that info?
6: Finally, last question... in the photo albums menu, it shows all my photos under one camera roll. Is it possible to start a new camera roll to organize pictures? Does anyone have instructions on that? I'm partially (not completely) computer savvy, and I've had my iPhone since it came out... but I can't seem to find that option, and I'm assuming it isn't there. But if it is, and I'm just being a fool, please tell me how to do that. The existing photo album with all 87 of my pictures is difficult to scroll with 87 thumbnails on one screen.
Thanks for anyone's help. It'd be much appreciated.

I think other includes things like downloaded emails and copies of photos that are cropped for individual contacts.
You can make as many new albums as you like in iphoto and then sync the ones you want but I don't know of any way to make albums on the phone itself.

Well, it's whatever doesn't fit into the other categories I think album art might fit in there for one.

That would be the iPod app crashing. If you listen to music while doing something else, this seems to happen quite a bit. No solution really, except to hope that Apple will fix it with a software update.

I don't think I've had those exact problems, but there are certainly a few bugs here and there.
3: Does anyone know at what point all youtube videos will become available to iphone users?
They've said later this year (I believe) because they are encoding them little by little, but even new videos which should be converted already don't seem to be available in many cases. The selection of viewable videos is very limited right now.
4: I've read that there's going to be an update to iTunes where you'll select a song and a snippet of that song for ringtones, and you'll be charged for it. Yeah, it's lame to have to pay again for a song you already "bought" (although technically you don't buy the song, you only buy a license for it, and that license has limitations on how the song can be used). At present, we don't know for sure when or even if this feature is coming, but it would be monumentally dumb for them not to do it.
5: I also heard that some consumer lawyer or coalition or whatever wants to stop Apple from charging for the extensive fees for battery replacement because iPhone users won't have a choice in paying for it if they have a defective battery after a year or so. Anyone have a link to that info?
Lawsuits like that are BS. I've had several iPods, and never had to replace a battery (they all still work, too). I've also never replaced a cell phone battery or a PDA battery. The battery capacity is supposed to drop to 80% of the original capacity after 300-400 full charge cycles (full drain & full recharge). You'd have to really work hard to do that in a year, and even if you did, you'd still have 80% capacity. It's really a non-issue IMHO.
6: Finally, last question... in the photo albums menu, it shows all my photos under one camera roll. Is it possible to start a new camera roll to organize pictures?
I think you're supposed to just use the camera roll as a temporary place to store the pictures you take on the phone. I would download them to iPhoto (or whatever you use) and put them in albums that way.
