Does anyone know how to save your voicemail from your iPhone onto your computer? My understanding is that all the voicemails are locally saved hwen you receive one as opposed to being stored on AT&T's server. Is that correct?

Yes, they are.

Isn't there a tool to search through the iPhone's directories now?

There is no native way to get voicemails off of your iPhone. You'd have to search out a hack.

If no one has written a little app to do this, someone should. Its something that would be quite useful to a lot of people.

EDIT: Stumbled across a File Browser here: iFuntastic v2.5.0 Released: Now includes full file browser | iPhone Alley

Not sure if this will work, but its a file browser. And of course, this isn't sanctioned by Apple, so use at your own risk.

They do appear to be stored locally, I tried the "airplane mode" method to check...

It also appears tehy can be DELETED remotely. I called voicemail by the old method and deleted the voicemail messages stored on the AT&T system, but they were still on the iPhone. A little while later, I checked again and they were gone.
