Hi all,
so I may get an iPhone when it comes out in France, however I have some questions about how it works with .Mac
- Address Book and calendar:
Right now i can sync my Sony Ericsson W810i to my mac and have my Mac sync with .Mac.
Does the iPhone allow you skip the sync to mac process and directly sync with .Mac or will I have to do the same?
- Email
On my cellphone i an set up an IMAP account, However I don't think it is real IMAP since it only download messages from the inbox. I have other folder on .Mac Mail but they do not show up.
When using email on my iPhone will I see my different folders? More importantly, how does the iPhone mail client manage a folder that has several thousand of messages? Does it download everything to the point where it could saturate the phone memory?
- Finally is there a way to access the iDisk on the iPhone?
What other ? Mac integration do you think are worth mentioning?
Thank you

Address Book: No, you have to sync the phone with your mac to get access to the .mac info.
Email: Same as your old phone - it only downloads messages in your in-box and other folders aren't an option right now. And it doesn't download all the messages in your inbox, but I'm not sure what the message limit is. I have stuff going back to the middle of June (looks like about 50 messages).
And no, no iDisk support.
You do have the new 'Web Gallery' option for your iPhone for when you take pictures. Sounds cool in concept to me, but I don't foresee myself using that too much. I'd imagine there will be more integration in the future, but right now it's pretty limited.

Sorry, that's not true. With the latest software update, you can view any folders on your IMAP server -- not just your inbox.

Ah, good to know. My mistake - I'm not seeing that on my end at all, tho'. Is it a setting in iTunes I'm missing?

It should just work. You don't see any other folders under your email account?

Not at all, unfortunately. Even created a new folder in mail just to see if that would trigger something. Looks like it might be time for a restore...
