I'd like to hold off on the iPhone until the storage capacity goes up to 16gb. I don't care about 3G. How likely is this to happen during Macworld Expo SF?

Will probably be tied into the advancement of the technology in the current iPhone, since 4/8 are pretty cheap, but 16/32 are very expensive. So whenever Apple is able to get a solid deal on that size and is able to not jump the price up anymore. So, maybe next year with version two of the phone?

If the rumor of a 16gb video iPod is real for Xmas 2007, then I think the demand for chips will preclude a similar iPhone until spring 08.

There are two rules of thumb: - Memory doubles every 18 months at same price.
- Hardware gets updated to a more powerful version just after you bought it.

Exactly. Apple wont release the 16GB iPhone until 2 weeks after Macintologist buys one.

And hence the proper strategy is very simple: Buy an iPhone NOW so Apple updates them in two weeks. Then buy the new iPhone and put the "old" on eBay.

I wouldn't bet on a new model so soon after the holidays. They wouldn't want buyer's remorse nor a flood of returns. I'd bet on February or March.

Im also waiting for at least 16 gigs
I also predict this to happen at the next macworld
if I am wrong i will simply wait
It would also be nice if they fixed a few little other things by then also

I find the 8 just a fine size. Forces me to choose my music a bit more carefully which means a better list. I have a couple of movies including Stepping into Liquid which is super way to show folks this amazing phone. This is one of the most amazing technologies I have ever had. The touch screen is awesom. I am sure apple is going to come out with tablets that implement this and will blow away anything MS has in XP tablet. Anyway, I wouldn't wait for the next rev on this product.
