Downloading a full version (91.2 MB) and doing a restore because my phone quit out of Safari and Maps and even just calling people too many times today.
The upgrade screen only says "bug fixes"
My last attempt at a software update didn't go too well. We'll see how this one goes...

Scrolling in general (and particularly during web page loading) seems smoother now.

I'm stuck at work for another 8 hours. Can anyone confirm that overall volume is louder: rings and alerts, speakerphone, plus the handset in general during calls? That'd be a big fix, in my book.

Downloaded the new software upgrade today and yes i had used jail break, so now i must restore my phone to original setting and apply the new update. Here is my problem im currently in Iraq right now and our internet is terribly slow, so in order for me to download a 91.5 MB file is gonna take about 8-9 hours and internet here is not very stable. So my question is, is there any way to restore the phone with out having to use iTunes PLEASE HELP!!!

See I already tried updating it, and since it was used with jailbrake, it needs to be restored to original settings and then software updated in order for it to work. Yes it works in Iraq just fine. Now all i have is an iPhone with a yellow triange telling me to connect to iTunes and wait 5 more hours for 50mb left to download! Does anyone know of another way to get this phone to work?

Unfortunately it looks as though no matter what you'd need the restore file, so waiting is probably all you can do. Sorry!

modestm, there is another way.
As documented on the iPhone dev wiki, option-clicking the "Restore" button will pop up an Open File dialog box, allowing you to choose the iPhone restore image. I suggest you download the restore image using a download utility that lets you resume interrupted downloads (Safari does a decent job) and then selecting it manually in iTunes after you've managed to complete the download.

Visnaut, ok after i download the restore image it will more than likely be saved on the desktop. So how do i select it manually in itunes in order for it to restore the iphone from here.

FYI - iTunes will also resume downloads, so there's no reason to do it that way.

Might be a good idea to have a copy on a thumb drive or network storage or something, though.
That way you don't need to download the restore image all over again, should you need it later.

iTunes will not resume this download of the restore download, so I might have to try it the manual way. Since my connection seems to keep timing out. This is so frustrating!

Can someone post the link to just the 3.7mb update? iTunes can't download the update where I am (it's not on these computers, and I can't install it). I'd like to update my phone if at all possible.
Thanks!

At the risk of repeating myself...

If that isn't clear enough, I should specify that I'm referring to the Restore button that appears in the iTunes window when you select your iPhone in the source list. I warn you, I haven't done this myself because I don't have an iPhone, it's simply information I've read before on various iPhone related sites. Specifically, here's one.

I did option click on my mac and it gave me the option to restore from a certain file. But unfortunately the downloaded file, has 2 mountable files on it, and three other seperate files on it. So to restore from this point does not seem to work. Thanks for the advice though, if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Two points:
I think you must be doing something wrong with the restore, although I've never done it myself, so i don't know what it is.
Once you do get the iPhone fixed, I would refrain from using any hacks on it.

Still hoping that someone can post a link to that update. . . On the restore image that was posted, it says 1.0.1 . . . Shouldn't it be 1.0.2 if it's the newest image?

Instead of unzipping the file, try selecting the zip file itself, or try removing the .zip filename extension, such that .ipsw is the extension of the file.
