Of all the speculation surrounding the items Apple plans to announce in tomorrows media event, I havent seen anyone mention anything about a mobile version of iTunes, especially for the iPhone. After all, it seems to be a program that is glaringly missing from the iPhone and would stand to make Apple a lot of money. I personally would be purchasing songs from my iPhone on a regular basis and look forward to hopefully hearing this from Mr. Jobs tomorrow.

If the iPod gains that functionality at some point, I would assume the iPhone would too, through a software update.

You bring up a very good point...having access to iTMS on the iPhone would be a big addition. Tracks might take some time to download over EDGE, but over WiFi the speed should be more than acceptable. It would bill to your CC just like purchases via iTunes.

yes - from the first day i got my iPhone - i've been wondering and hoping if Apple would ever offer OTA iTune downloads... would make a lot of sense... yeah EDGE would be slow to download multiple albums, tv shows or movies, but for a couple of tunes at a time it would be oh-so-convenient and super slick...
at the very least - it might be cool even to just have the ability to browse the itune store from the iphone... mark some songs for download into your shopping cart and the next time you sync, you get the songs...
it's 1:20pm EDT... any sign of any Apple press releases or announcements?

The Wifi iTunes Store is actually a pretty big deal, and it got overlooked with all the other stuff happening. It's not quite the perfect solution -- that would allow you to preview and download music wherever you were, not just with a wifi connection, but obvious EDGE is not up to that. Still, it's a huge step forward, and makes the Zune's implementation of wifi look like even more of a joke.
