If you're like me, you hate every single one of the ringtones that came with the iPhone. Now that there is a way to add your own ringtone for free, I've finally been able to put a regular ring on my phone. I don't want songs, I don't want corny sound effects....just a normal cell phone ring. The last thing I want is to be sitting in a meeting at work and have my phone place some ridiculous Marimba or the latest rap song. If I forget to put it on Vibrate, I just want a normal ring!
Here's a great one I found. Once I converted it to the .m4r format, it synch'd perfectly and is now happily on my iPhone.

Normal Ringtoners...Unite!! Lets stop the incessant sound of Marimba, 50 cent, and the Grateful Dead. No more will we tolerate the sounds of Britney Spears or Gwen Stefani bellowing from the riduculous handsets of corny cell phone users!!
Ok...enough ranting.

I don't have an iPhone, but I agree with you 100%. Why can't a phone sound like a phone?

For a ringtone I have a recording of a song that my daughter sang when she was a little over two years old. No matter where I am, people smile when they hear it. But it is hard to hear in a loud environment.
But other than that, I am a "normal ringtone" kind of guy.

I'd shoot myself before making that my ringtone.

Can we make this thread a place to link to your favorite ringtone files? I'm on the hunt for the perfect one, but I also love to hear everyone else's favorites.

Not much different than the "Old Phone" ringer that actually comes on the iPhone though...

OK, I thought you did. You know, because the thread is about looking for ringtones to use on your iPhone and all.

Ok, I guess I'll just start another thread about ringtones in the consumer electronics forum. We need another thread about phones I guess.

You're perfectly welcome to talk about that here -- I'm just saying that it was a natural mistake for me to make.

I like the idea of posting other potential ringtones. Almost everything you find on the internet is some ridiculous song and the actual rings are hard to find. Here's another that isn't too bad

What I find interesting is that the phone I replaced with my iPhone was on vibrate mode 99% of the time - I could not even tell you what its ringtone was if you asked me now.
I loved the W48 example; a little too old compared to what I grew up with, tho.
