What do you mean by "know what the pins on the iPhone dock are?" The Russian site you link to has some pretty good information, but getting pinouts for NEW products can take some time. Unless the iPhone uses an iPod dock connector (I have no clue about this), chances are it'll be a while before it's easy to get the pinout.

If you are looking for the pin designations, I believe they are the same for the iPhone as the iPod. I use my iPod* and iPhone data cables interchangeably on both devices, and have had no issues with syncing or charging either device using the other device's data cable.
* USB data cables; the FireWire cable only charges the iPhone

The iPhone does have an iPod dock connector, though it definitely has some differences that I haven't seen documented yet. Somehow the iPhone knows when it is plugged into an iPhone approved dock, verses an iPod dock, IE, it triggers the airplane mode if it thinks it's in a dock not properly shielded from the phone RF signals.
There may be video out in the connector, though this is not confirmed yet. The two new video cables (component and composite) on Apple's site did list iPhone and were under the iPhone section for a little bit, but this appears to have changed to not list the iPhone now.

I know most of the pins are the same. What I'm really interested in is which one might be the mic pin and the switch pin, if there is one.

The original iPod dock connector had pins for both USB communication and FireWire communication, you can see as much on the linked Russian site. It's possible that since iPods have not used FireWire for communication for some time now, Apple may have re-purposed those FireWire communication pins.
Then again, they may not have. Anyone who knows for sure will not post in this thread.

It looks like my only option is to buy a breakout board and do this by trial-and-error.
