Why less is more! I have started a blog to chart my progress through the iPod touch! Its odd how we've become so accustomed to having so much memory that when its taken away its can go one of two ways...rebellion or a renewing of musical tastes! This is purely my own downgrading recorded and delivered online...

Theres no money or anything involved. Just me trying to get back my appreciation of music! Let me know what you think!

Basically, at first I was disappointed with the memory of the iPod touch and now I am taking it as an opportunity to reduce my music collection and go back to basics. Right now I have so much stuff on my ipod I don't listen to and stuff I should listen to but just don't.

I don't know that I would reduce the overall music collection.
I would create a playlist named ipod touch.

I would set it to sync only that playlist.

and then I would filter in the music to be synced into that playlist.

I really hope the iPod touch allows manual music management, like all the previous iPods, unlike the iPhone.

Without manual music management, you can't make smart playlists that are local to the music library on your iPod. Otherwise, if you make a "Not listened to in the last 2 weeks, and 3 stars or more" playlist, it will grab most of the library on you machine, as opposed to just the songs on your iPod that you haven't listened to yet. That's how I keep a good rotation, rather than just hitting random and get some songs I've listened to recently. When everything gets old, I just replace the music with something else.

Apple answered my question on page 7 of the iPod touch Features Guide, released today:

Select “Manually manage music and videos” to turn off syncing in the Music, Movies, and TV Shows settings panes.
