An 8GB iPhone was roughly 7.2GB from the factory, if I remember correctly. I suspect the Touch to be close to that, maybe a bit more since there aren't as many apps as on the iPhone.

You find an MP3 player that can browse the web (with full size pages and no reformatting), play video at 480x320 resolution, has a store with millions of songs you can legally purchase anywhere there is a wifi connection, and has a multiple input glass touchscreen display, let us know.

Anyway, regarding the question of the thread, as maroma mentioned it will probably be at least 7.5+ useable space since the OS is most likely smaller.

Dual 2.66Ghz Xeon Woodrcrests // 8800GT 512MB // 30" Apple Cinema Display // 8GB RAM // Samsung Galaxy Nexus LTE // 64GB iPad LTE Verizon // Home Theater

of course, but both have the same tecnology. both of them are going to be full eventually according to their capacity. no one has an 7.5 or a 15.5 gb music library .at lest not me .above that, is the most incredible piece of machine i`ve ever seen.

I registered before that but good try.

And I wasn't being an ass I just don't see the logic of buying an 8gb iTouch that will be 30gb next year for the same price.

And if you wait another year it will be 60GB. What's your point? The whole idea of waiting as long as a year for technology is meaningless. Technology changes too fast. If you need now, you buy now. If you don't need now, you don't buy now.

I know you registered earlier. But you were still being an ass.

And if you don't see the logic of buying a (X) GB <digitalproduct> that will be (2X) GB next year for the same price, then you must be new to the market.

Congratulations on your first job - you'll find that spending money gets easier as you get used to how things work in the world.

(Yeah, this time it's me being the smart-ass, but really - hello? )
