I haven't seen any reports to date of success in downgrading to 1.02 and to include the baseband firmware (necessary for cellular calls) in order to make an iPhone fully functional in an unlocked mode.

If that's what you're after. Otherwise, why care about downgrading?

Buy refurbished, when some become available.

If you chat with an associate, they should be able to tell you if it is 1.0.2 or 1.1.1. If it's a 4gb model, you should be able to downgrade.
