I am having problems trying to transfer itunes music from my Mac Powerbook to my Gateway laptop. When I used a portable hard drive all the songs that I tried to transfer said that they were lost. I have about 3700 songs i need to transfer. If you know how i can transfer them please tell.

try some other files, like documents or some video. See if those will transfer.

Check the other thread you posted-which I moved to the Applications forum since it has nothing to do with which Mac you're using. Reading the iTunes help is "helpful." And note that the iTunes library isn't just the songs, but a lot of support data too.
