iphone and converting videos

i converted some video for my iphone using handbrake, set the resolution to 480 wide and the height was auto set. Checked mp4 video .h264 and set the quality at 350 and the sound too stereo. these all play great in itunes, but don't work on my iphone. what am i doing wrong?

Use the iPhone preset. There are tons of options h.264 options, and the iPhone doesn't support a lot of them; the Handbrake devs have gone to the trouble of figuring out which ones work.

i used the iphone settings, when i tried to sync it says "movie" cannot be played on this iphone. what does it mean by THIS iphone? will it play on other iphones? do i have to change a setting somewhere?

What I don't understand is why the iPhone doesn's even support formats that handbrake does for apple tv! I don't want to have multiple files of the same movie around!

I converted 5 movies in handbrake at 720, all played just fine. I just used the standard mp4 and not h.264. the files were larger (about 1GB each), but they looked great. They all installed on the iPhone 8GB.

Must be...it's a Windows app.
Although, having an iPhone is not a Mac-only option, so maybe not.
