I assume you had your iPhones unlocked because you didn't want to be locked into ATT or wanted a different Call/Data plan. What I'd like to know is what prepaid or one year postpaid plan are you using that has unlimited data. I'm asking as I will be living in the US for 12 months only.

T-mobile... $40/mo for unlimited EDGE (including using AT&T's network) or $20/mo as an addon for a voice plan (which start at $30/mo).
